New expiry-date feature in our client interface

Our IT team released a new expiry-date feature in the client interface to ensure compliant and safe shipping of expiry-date products across Europe. All euShipments.com clients who sell cosmetics, supplements, pet products, food, beverages, and other time-sensitive products, can now benefit from an optimized management of their stock. By tracking such products in batches and automatically prioritising the ones with closest expiry date, the new feature reduces stock losses, protects brand trust, and optimises inventory value.

When it comes to selling expiry-date products, accurate monitoring of the expiry date can be key to staying compliant and trustworthy by delivering safe products or sending expired or close the expiry date products and losing brand trust among online customers. To completely avoid the second scenario, our team developed and launched a new expiry-date feature in the euShipments.com client interface. This feature ensures that any expiry-date products are managed and shipped safely and compliantly to their recipients across Europe. By dispatching the products with the nearest expiry date first, we are protecting brand reputation and optimizing inventory value. All of this without adding complexity for the online merchants.

The new feature operates with expiry-date batches that are used for products that have a defined expiry date determined by the manufacturer or by regulatory requirements. For these products, an interface user (our client) creates batches by entering the exact expiry date stated on the product packaging. This ensures that every product included in a batch is tracked and managed in accordance with its specifications. It is important to note that all products with an expiry date must be correctly marked as such in the system. This ensures accurate control over products that must be used or sold within a specific timeframe, minimising stock losses and guaranteeing consumer safety.

Picking list

The system automatically monitors and analyses the expiry dates of available products, prioritising the packing of items with the earliest expiry date, following the FEFO rule – First Expire – First Out. This reduces the risk of distributing goods that are close to expiry date and supports the optimisation of warehouse inventory. Once a product is marked for expiry date tracking, every movement requires assigning or selecting a batch, ensuring full traceability. Expiry date tracking applies consistently across reception, storage, picking, packing, relocation to different warehouses, and returns of the products.

This new expiry-date feature positively affects all euShipments.com clients that sell products with an expiration date, regardless of volume or destination markets. These are the following client groups:

  • Cosmetics and beauty brands
  • Supplements and OTC products (medical products and devices sold directly to consumers without needing a doctor’s prescription)
  • Pet food and supplements
  • Food and beverages

Online merchants who sell both non-expiring products and products with expiration dates, also benefit from this new feature. Only the SKUs marked with expiry dates will be managed as per the new feature’s logic , the rest continue their management as usual.

Fulfillment process
  • Reduced risk of expired products reaching end customers

Because оур system always prioritizes the earliest-expiring продуцтс, the chance of shipping near-expired or expired products is closed to zero. For our clients that means fewer customer complaints and significantly reduced chances of returns.

  • Better inventory turnover

The automatic FEFO logic, implemented in the expiry-date feature, helps online merchants sell their stock before it expires, avoiding asset losses caused by unsold expired products. This turns into direct cost savings for all online merchants selling cosmetics, supplements, food, pet products, etc.

  • Full traceability and compliance

Each product with expiry date is always linked to a specific batch,  specific expiration date, and specific warehouse operation (reception, shipment, return etc.). This is extremely important, especially for regulated products and for clients operating in multiple EU markets with strict compliance requirements.

  • Operational accuracy without extra effort from the online merchant

Once product batches and expiry dates are entered into our system, euShipments.com clients don’t need to manage the expiry-date functionality manually. Our operational teams are system-guided and no manual decision-making during order fulfillment is required. The fulfillment process remains unchanged for speed, with the same high level of accuracy.

Getting started

Our new expiry-date feature enables eCommerce businesses to easily manage time-sensitive products with optimized accuracy, safety, and efficiency. By automatically tracking expiry dates at batch level and prioritising the fulfillment of products with the earliest expiry date, our system reduces waste, supports regulatory compliance, and enhances customer trust. This feature integrates seamlessly into our existing fulfilment operations, ensuring optimal inventory turnover without adding operational complexity for the clients

Active euShipments.acom clients who have questions about the expiry-date feature or would like to apply it for their products are encouraged to contact their dedicated Account or Key accounts manager for further details and support.
